Frequently Asked Questions

A big part of what we do is educate our clients. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to us.

Chaos Works specializes in bringing fabric ideas to life. My fashion design degree, 15 years in tradeshow fabric production, and additional years of eclectic sewing experience means I can successfully work with many materials and create various products in various sewing industries.

At Chaos Works, we specialize in large-scale, uniquely shaped projects. I do not speak industry-specific jargon like that of a drapery room seamstress or an upholsterer. I work hard to describe our process and possibilities in more commonplace terms. Most importantly, when we agree on a final project image or sketch, I will bring it to life.

Dye sublimation is a digital printing technology that uses heat transfer to apply an image to the intended substrate. This is usually fabric or vinyl for Chaos Works purposes but can include more substrates.

The process is commonly used for decorating apparel, signs, banners, and other items with sublimation-friendly surfaces. Our dye sublimation supplier is one of the highest quality available in the US, utilizing more ink and printer head passes.

Art can be submitted via Box.com or email. All art must be print-ready and have 2” of bleed or extra image around your art's visible area/finish size.

Out-of-state support is $75 per hour, plus the cost of travel and travel time (minimum 4 hrs per direction of travel for flying) and $50 per additional day on-site.

If less than 2 weeks notice for booking price increases to $125 per hour.

Bleed is additional image or color on the perimeter of your artwork beyond what you intend to be in the final visible product. Bleed is necessary for several reasons.

1. It provides extra image if the print shrinks from the transfer heat.

2. It provides extra image for seam allowance depending on your finish needs.

3. It can save you from reprints if you have changes
discovered after printing.

Each project varies depending on the scope of work, material availability, client needs, and our current workload. Still, generally speaking, we adhere to the following timelines when quoting time.

  • Tradeshow/ Dye Sublimation = 2-3 weeks from approval
  • Upholstery Projects = 2-3 weeks
  • Drapes & Other Window Treatments = 2-3 weeks
  • Alterations = 1-2 weeks

All of these timelines can be shortened in emergencies for a rush fee.

Rush fees are as follows:

  • Less than seven days - 25%
  • five days - 50%.
  • three days - 75%
  • Next Day - 100% rush

No, Chaos Works does not have the equipment for screen printing. All our printing is done via dye sublimation.

Offense: We review CAD carefully and check that all sizes provided add up and align with other provided information. We ask questions pre-production to ensure a clear understanding of the structure and trim.

Defense:  If the fabrics do not fit perfectly after production and it is our mistake, we will remedy the situation in one of three ways.

  1. If feasible, we will send someone onsite free of charge to correct the pieces.
  2. We will rush to remake the pieces and send them on-site free of charge.
  3. If an event passes and we cannot remedy, we will refund the sold price of the piece entirely.

Full disclosure: Refunds will not be made until there has been an investigation and determination that we were provided all the correct info and the mistake is on Chaos Works' part.
